Common questions
Can I combine scholarships and discounts?
Yes, with some rules. You can combine one MMDC discount (like Asenso) with one external scholarship (like City Scholarship or Abanse Negrense). Discounts don't stack with each other. Financing options like Bukas can be added on top of any combination.
Are there scholarships for my city or province?
MMDC has LGU scholarship partnerships with Bacolod City (City Scholarship — full tuition) and Negros Occidental (Abanse Negrense — up to 50% tuition). Check the [LGU scholarships page](/tuition-and-funding/lgu-scholarships) for details and eligibility.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. MMDC offers three payment plans: Pay in Full (no interest), Bigger Start Lower Interest (40-30-30 split), and Smaller Start (20-40-40 split). Use the [tuition calculator](/tuition-fee-calculator) to see your exact payment breakdown.
How much does college actually cost?
At ₱1,435 per unit, a full load of 15 units costs ₱21,525 per term before discounts. With the automatic Asenso discount (20% off), that drops to ₱17,220 per term. Use the [calculator](/tuition-fee-calculator) to see your exact numbers.
Is Bukas a scholarship?
No. Bukas.ph is a tuition installment plan — it's a loan, not a scholarship or discount. You'll need to pay it back in monthly installments. Think of it as spreading your tuition across smaller payments rather than paying in one lump sum.
What if I can't afford a laptop?
MMDC has a laptop lending program that lets you borrow a device for the duration of your program. There are also financing options through Bukas.ph and GCash (coming soon) that can help cover device costs. Talk to the registrar about your situation.
What's the Asenso Scholarship?
Asenso is an automatic 20% discount on tuition for every MMDC student. Despite the name 'scholarship,' it's really a discount — you don't need to apply, and you don't need to maintain grades to keep it. It's applied automatically to your billing.
